I am making a ladder family.  I have created the rung as an extrusion and aligned and locked it to the side rails of the ladder.  When I flex the width of the ladder the rung stretches with it perfectly.  Then I make that rung a parametric array so that the ladder will add rungs when the height of the ladder is changed.  The array works great with the height change but for some reason when I change the width the rungs no longer follow and it breaks saying "Constraints are not satisfied" and I don't know why.  It works fine before I array but breaks after.  Any ideas?!  I attached the family below.

Create the "steps" in another family with parameters then nest that family into your family and constrain, then create the array, edit group of the second step and constrain that too...

there is a good tutorial about this issue in our Resource page by Mr. Spot, take a look...

Short answer: nested families are neccessary for your rungs.  otherwise arrays veer off and break, yes.  After importing a nested family, it's straightforward with your arrays and formulas.

Ok so I figured out the parameters just fine after nesting the rungs, thanks!!

Now my problem is with the array parameter heights.  I want to make it so that the bottom rug is 1'-0" off the ref level so I made a ref plane and locked it to that then I need to have a rung at the top of the rail so I locked a rung to that ref place.  Now I want to make a formula for my array so that when I change my ladder height the rungs stay at a maximum spacing of 12" between the bottom and top rungs but I just cannot figure it out.  I tried height/1'-1 but that doesnt work for say a 10'-1" ladder.  Any ideas?
