Lets start with the issue at hand.  I have had two night renderings going for 9 hours and they are only at 13 percent.  I have 140 lights per view and am rendering with exterior sun (7pm) and artificial only.  I am using high settings with a 100 dpi output.  The building is of substantial size around 65’ tall and 100,000 square feet per floor.  My computer has an I7 processors and nevidea quadro graphics card, and 16gb of ram.  Can anyone help me to why it is taking so long or any way to improve the length of time while also improving quality?  Thanks for the help.

What version of Revit are you using?  You could try rendering it in autodesk cloud360, rendering in the cloud is MUCH faster.

I am using 2012 and am a student so I do not think I have access to the cloud. I am also rendering camera views could this impact the length of time rather than 3-d view with section box??

Even with the student version you can use cloud rendering, there is an add-in that you need to install to use the cloud

Did you follow the advice Typhoon gave you?  The issue is more than likely your lights but it could also be your model and your material.  Read through those tips!

WWHUB i did read through what typhoon post and did apply them to my model.  Maybe im just to use to Maxwell Studio's speed than revits.  I changed alot of the settings around and my current render image is at 53% done which has taken 3 and half hours.  I will post a picture later to see what you guys think.  Thanks for all the help.

140 lights seems excessive.  See if you can group and turn some of them off.  Such as those that are in windowless rooms.

Also--try medium quality renders.  I often cannot tell a difference between medium and high quality renders.   Since quality only affects things like transparency, shadow softness, and reflection bounces, it makes sense that a combination of increased quality and light sources can send your render times exponentially higher into what feels like purgatory.
