Hello!  I'm a beginner with Revit (I have Revit 2012), and I'm designing a simple house.  The issue I'm having is that I have a section of the house which is open to both stories, and I'd like to make a custom window that will be one continuous window going up both stories (about 15' tall), obviously with some frame divisions, haha.  I have no idea how to make a two story window, though.  I was messing around with some of the provided window families and when I change the parametrics to make it 15' tall (when it's on Level 1), it shows the windows in the floor plan on the second floor, but the window does not cut through the wall on the second floor.

Advice, please?  Thank you so much!

To be more clear (very very tired, words may fail me), I'm looking to make a custom family for something like this: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/.a/6a00d83451c3cb69e2011570ac8507970b-640wi

Yes Curtain Wall is your best option.  Check out this tutorial, there are also a lot more tutorials out there if you search for them.

If you are using two separate walls for your first and second floor that could be the reason you are not seeing it on the second floor. Use the Cut command (Modify>Geometry>Cut) and click the window and the second floor wall so it understands to subtract the window from wall.
