I am woring on a building the has a cable roof and want to place a crown running up the soffit on the gable roof on the end. The rotate command doesn't seam to work on sweeps. Is there a way to rotate sweeps at all? or ar they forced to hor and vert?

You could try using a fascia with a specified offset?

I agree, fascia is a much more powerful tool when it comes to roof edges. I have used it for gutters(where the drip edge of a roof is not parallel to the ground), I use them for roof ridges, and because they just follow an edge they can be stacked on one another.
