Hey all,

I'm making an intricate Revit mass representation of a prefabricated building unit. The unit will need to have 4 "noodle" shaped components which will be used to anchor cables coming from another component of the building structure. My questions are...

1. How can I make a noodle shape - shaped in section like the letter "C," so not exactly a half-circle - in Revit mass modeling? (also note, i'm not making this in a Family, just making it in the project itself...)

which brings me to my second question

2. Is there a way I can save this intricate mass as a family AFTER creating it in my project?

Your help is greatly appreciated! Huzzah for Autodesk. Huzzah for 3D.

Why in a mass instead of a family?

No, you can not convert a mass to a family.

Noodle shaped?  Seems like a rectangle profile septh along a path.

A noodle shape? Something like the attached?  It was created using a sweep.

Massing is only for ridiculously organic forms.  The vast majority of curves and bends and such can be made with the normal modeling tools within your project.  Sometimes it takes a little creativity to figure out how to make it.

Massing is sort of... separate from the rest of the program.   It's frustrating trying to integrate massing into a project, and it's really only meant as a framework to apply things like roofs and curtain walls to the face of.
