Hi,

I work on Revit 2012 and when i create a model in place family all objects become lighter. So light that I can barely see them. Is there a setting that will let me adjust the degree of the brightness?

It wasn't that way in Revit 2011...

There is a way to fix it, but it might not work well for you, depending on some of your VG settings. What is happening (and I'm pretty sure it's a glitch in 2012, not deliberate) is that when you edit in-place families Revit will halftone everything else. Then when you edit the extrusion, it's applying the halftone again, making everything way too light. The laftone for this is controlled with the halftone settings for everything else (Manage|Additional Settings|Halftone/Underlay). Set that to a higher value, and you'll still be able to see everything. Unfortunately, this will affect any model elements you have set to halftone or any underlays, so if you are using those you may not be able to change this. Or, you may have to change it back when you are done.

A workaround I have been using is before I edit the extrusion, I place a few symbolic lines on top of key model elements. That way I can still see where my extrusion sketch needs to be.

Thanks for that, I'm having a similar problem so will give what you suggest a try.
