Hi,I have my ground level floorplan however i would like the shadows to be shown from above the cut plane. They are currently only showing from the top of where the cut plane is about 1500mm) I would like to have a floor plan which demonstrates the lighting effects at different times of the day.Is there a way to do this? To have a ground level floorplan but with shadows from the roof above.Thank you very much in advance. Hopefully everything is clarified.Kind regards, Adam

My 1st thought was photoshoping multiple images of the same plan views, but it might be possible to take a 3D view - use a section box to get the plan cut at the right height, then export the 3D model in a format of your choice . do the same with the roof above - bring them back into a Revit file.
After all of that labor intensive cropping, exporting and importing, I still don't know how you could have a plan view and cast shadows from objects above the plan cut plane.
If you use SketchUp, you could export any 3D view as a dwg file, import it into SketchUp (would require the Pro version) and nest section boxex in components or groups.
You still have the same problem - how to get object above the cut plane to cast shadows - but not block the view of what's below.
The only effect that it seems reasonable to create in a single model would be an axonometric / isometric view - but then the shadows disorient the viewer instead of reinforcing their read of the spaces and volumes.
I don't know if anyone else has a real solution...

Thanks very much for the reply Polar.
I ended up taking the 'ground' floorplan - exporting image
Then the 'site' floorplan and hiding a bunch of stuff from the site floorplan. - export image
Photoshop together and remove any parts not required. It showed generally what was happening.
However, i think there should be an option to prevent doing something like this. If a firm does not have graphics software then it could be a real pain.
Thanks again Polar for the reply.
