I want to start a new project that has a basement level. Should I set the level to a negative number(the level height) below level 1 which is set to 0 (zero)?! If so, would that effect the rendering later on?! Thanks.

No. If you are using the auto ground plane you will just need to adjust it accordingly.

I'm sorry, but what is "the auto ground plane"? Could you explain more?!

you can take your basement level to what ever you want, it is not going to affect rendering, what Mr spot means, is turning off the ground plane when it comes to rendering, which is in the rendering settings.

How can I turn off the ground plane?! Do I have to uncheck the checkbox, then hit save?! Because I've tried many times unchecking the ground lane option checkbox, but it keeps coming back the same..!!

You need to turn the ground plane off in two areas, "Advanced Visability Graphics" and in the render settings in the advanced "Environment" .
