I recently made a new Revit Family based off of an imported 3D CAD model of some office furniture.  I changed the material properties in the family and everything looks fine.

When I load this family into a new revit project, all of the materials show up in the material manager correctly and it renders just fine.

When I bring this family into a specific existing project, the materials appear to be correct in the material manager, but they all render as gray.

Has anyone dealt with anything like this before?

Thanks

Was this family already in the project?  If so, then remember, "The Project Rules".  Once materials are set in the project, they have to be set in the project or the materials and family removed from the project to clean the slate.

3DCad imports are assigned material by layer.  So you materials may be in the project but the import doesn't look at them.  Look at mange tab / object styles / imports - and you will find the material assignments here.

What if you purged the materials from the project before bringing the family back in?
