i made this pretty complicated window and i realized it needs to set back from the face of the wall about 6" without totally destroying it, how can i add a parameter to make it do that?

thanks!

You need to plan ahead in Revit.  We start doors and windows by placing a reference plane in the family and building the family around that instead of the wall.  Then we add an instance or type parameter that moves this reference plane to a setback distance from the face of the wall.

Your problem is adding this plane after the fact is harder to do.  I suggest you add it well off the wall on the setback side...like 2'.  Then relocate your window elements accordingly so that they flex with the location of this plane.  Test the process often by moving the plane.  Then add your location parameter when finished.

Thanks! i usually do plan ahead, but i forgot this time

what do i reference this new plane off of? the wall? or the centerline thats comes with the window family?

heres another question. i need to put an 8" reveal around the entire window.  the typical Wall/reveal command only lets you go horizontal and vertical.  how do i put it around the arch?  i have the profile, i just cant see a command to put it around the curved part? any idea?

You setback will be off the wall face ....I think that answers your question.  I build the element behind this plane so the setback is from the wall face to the face of the window which is usually how you would dimension that in the project.
