I am creating a general note that I can use in all of my projects and I am using my lintel symbols family as symbol reference however when I create the lintel schedule the "dummy" symbols from the general notesa re showing up in my schedule. How can I shut them off or tel my schedule not to read them?

You need a filter in your schedule to tell it to only read the data from the families you want to see. For example, in your Lintel symbol families, you might add a shared parameter such as "Show on Lintel Schedule". this could be a text parameter which you don't need to enter a value for, or a yes/no parameter if you like. Add this shared parameter to the Lintel schedule but make it a hidden field (checkbox on the Formatting tab of Schedule Properties). Then, on the Filter tab of the Schedule Properties, choose Filter By "Show on Lintel Schedule" / Exists (or "Show on Lintel Schedule" equals Yes if you are using a Yes/no parameter). The schedule will then show only families that meet the conditions of the filter.
