Manufacturer BIM Model
I have tried to host this roof hatch BIM model to my roof but it will only select wall faces as its host. I received this response to my question of why is it not hosted to a roof and can only be placed in 3d view. Does this response make sense?
The Bilco models are correctly modeled. That is because they are “face” hosted, which means that are able to be added to any kind of face (roof; floor; wall or any surface created like an “In place” families if required) on a Revit project with no exception. We made sure of that.
What the architect is talking about is that the family can’t be inserted in a Roof with a slope from the “plan view” which is a Revit limitation. The solution is what the architect mentioned below, place the family from a 3D view.

If it is face hosted I should be able to select the face in plan view

I hosted this in plan view on a sloped roof by editing the placement.

You can place host on face in plan if you change the placement option to "place on face" instead of "place on vertical surface"
