Hey everyone, first time poster here. One of my Revit users is getting an error every time they open the project relating to dimensions. The project is a legacy hospital building with 90% of the geometry done in CAD and a 10% in Revit. I'm assuming that the problem is the user is dimensioning from a CAD element to a Revit element which will need to be done through the life of the project. But every time they open the project the only choice is to delete the dim's or to not open the file.
Anyone know a work around for this? The only thing I can come up with (haven't tested it yet) is to put a piece of line work in Revit and dim from Revit element to Revit element. This seems rather cumbersome ant not very Revit like.
Error report attached.............
Any help would be appreciated,
Mike Adams

Are these CAD files linked? If so, could this be a problem with the pathing of the link?
Is this user on a different operating system? We have seen pathing problems from this.

Yes they are AutoCAD files referenced in the model, but I don't believe pathing should be an issue as they are located in a network environment and not a local one and everyone is on the same OS. I think I figured out that if you dim to a linked CAD file Revit reloaded on opening and treats it as a "new" object so the dim's lose their association. I guess if we need to dim to a CAD location I will have them draw a detail line in the location, this way it won't lose the association......hopefully.
Thanks for the help,
Mike

We have seen Revit issues with mapped drives vs UNC mapping. We do not fully understand the problem but even on the same network using the same operating system can have problems.

Hmm.....have you figured out and "fixes" for this particular issue other than inserting the CAD file?
