Whats the best way of forming a square pyramid shaped component? For example to cap a square brickwork pier with a stone coping.

I would create using the blend tool whick lets you define the base and top shapes and blend them together. The Revit help file should have more info.

I would grab the pyramid Mass family from the default Revit library (under Masses) and load it into your project.
