I am trying to create a curtain wall with some non 90degree angle glass pieces (see attached image for design intent, black lines indicate mullions I want to create but am unable). I am fairly certain that you cannot have all these mullions as one curtain wall, but even if I create two walls, one for the orthogonal pattern at the bottom and another for the top part, the top part mullions are not perpendicular with each other, so just rotating the grid lines of the curtain wall will not accomplish what we are trying to achieve. Any thoughts or work arounds?

You have a couple of options. Because a curtain wall's perimeter can be edited in elevation, you could use multiple CW's with the angled mullions being the perimeter. The second option is just to add the X as an in-place family. < That is what I would do.
