I am looking at a project for mezzanines, stairs, hand rails, and storage bin stands. I will need to provide fabrication/shop drawings for the steel fabricator. I'll be getting a RISA model from the structural engineer and possible a dwg, but I need to take that/those and provide the fabrication drawings. I'm considering using Revit: import the RISA model and create the fabrication drawings from Revit.
Does anyone have any:
1) suggestions2) warnings3)experience4) ???
Thank you! I also might consider building the model and converting to dwg to package the drawings. I also have AutoCAD structural detailing, but I have not used it with its features, so I'd be learning on the project and adding to an already taxing process.
Anyway, any insight/advice would be very helpful! Thank you!

Hi, ive uploaded a similar post to yours but am also a bit light of any answers. Thinking of adopting revit for our specialist fabrication company mainly for estimating and fabrication purposes not to mention greater potential for winning jobs as more and more main contractors start to demand revit models. Keep an eye on my post too, maybe you will get some answers there...Baz, UK.
