SO Im asking a dumb question I think, but here goes.

When you load a library family into a projct, in my case a titleblock, but it could as well be a window, then you create, in the properties editor, another type...does that update the types in the original file sitting in the library folder? or just the family as it sits in the project?

I updated my title block in the original file, but a project that had it loaded from before still shows the old titleblock, and if I select that t-block in the project, click edit family, update titleblock...that does NOT update the original file?

Once a family is loaded, all changes made from "edit family in the project" are only in that project.  You would have to edit the family from the project and save to your library if you want those changes there.

And by the way.....

The path of the family you edit from withing a project may not be the same as your current library.  Just a warning to make sure you save in the right place.
