Revit Structure 2012
I know within the architecture package if you demo a door it will put a wall infill in the next phase. Revit Structure doesn't seem to be able to do this. I have an existing masonry bearing wall with openings that are being infilled, but there doesn't seem any easy way to do this with the structure package. any ideas, is their an option switch that I am not seeing?

Do you have the suite? If so, then do it from the architectural package.
I checked this out in structure and you are right. You can demo the opening but noting fills in the hole. I suggest you bring this to AutoDESK's attention.

It does work, change your view discipline and also turn on your window, door, opening, etc...

Interesting - but the wall is structural - the filler should be the same as the wall.

Not necessarily, in real life an infill doesn’t need to be structural. In Revit Structure by default it brings the infill as Architectural wall this is why you can’t see the wall and that’s why you need to temporarily change the view disciple form Structure to Architecture or Coordination then select the main wall and then select all instances and check the box “structure”. change your view discipline to structure again. or simply create a working view with these changes

I don't think I agree. If I demo the opening in structure, then I would want to see it there. If I demo it in architecture, then I see it there. The default should be the same as the wall - then if you want to change it you could but the default should match the base condition.

in theory it sounds great but in practice it doesn't work like that with Revit.
