i'm working in a large model (over a 350,000 sq ft. dorm bld including parking garage) we have split it into three models, shell, interior suites, and parking garage. I'm work in the main model, which is the exterior shell. it is going so slow...there are probably 6 or so of us working in it at one time. any ideas how to make it faster? or what we could we doing that is slowing it down? i just compacted the model this morning...
any help would be great!
thanks!
ps. i'm working in 2011...

Do you have multiple views open? Revit has to redraw each window. 3D ones are real hogs.
Are your view depths set so Revit doesn't have to hide 6 floors of furniture?
Do you have linked models in seperate worksets so that you can use limited worksets? When you open a file, you can use reduced worksets.... You can also close / open worksets during your session. This is also important for items like furnishings that may not need to be on all the time.
Are you editing groups? If so, Revit has to change every instance.

Are any of the views you are working in have shadows enabled? They can kill preformance.

thanks for your suggestions...i'll try some of them and see if they help
we don't have worksets set up currently and i've been wondering if we should do that. putting the linked models in worksets seem to be an easy solution to it.
the view depth seems to be helping some. i've been turning off linked models and model elements when they're not needed in the view (i.e. elevations turning off furniture, interior suites, etc.)
i have had multiple windows open, none that are 3D or with shadows, but i hope Revit would allow you to work in multiple drafting views with other views open as well...
does anyone know if a lot of people working in a model at the same time will bog down the model? I would assume no because we're all working in our local...but then i don't know. just figured i'd ask!
again, thanks for your help!

If you don't have worksets yet, then you don't have multiple people working in the project. Enabling worksets is the only way that works. We are not a large firm but we often have 5-6-8 people in the same project at the same time.
I don't understand why you have a seperate shell model. The project size doesn't warrent that. A seperate model for the parking garage is appropriate.
Multiple views is usually not a problem as long as the number is not a lot and as previusly said - no shadows.
