Does anyone have any advice and/or links to methods for creating 'smart' automatic patterns? I'm creating some laser cut screening panels similar to those in the attached image - but as there is so much of it, (200+ sq/m) I really dont want to create the screen panels manually, or produce 1-2 panels that are simply repeated over and over.
I have been looking around the web for tutorials on how to use algorithyms to produce patterns - but with no luck as yet.
Ideally I would like to be able to specify the hole (cutout) shape parameters and give it a range of overall sizes, then depending on the variables tell that to apply over the are of the screen panels.
The image Ive attached has 3 examples - the 1 on the left could be done manually. The middle one is the same shape repeated over and over, but at different sizes and densities, the pic on the right is totally random.
I would love someone to steer me in the right direction with this.

You need to contact Mr Spot

Look at his tower. He had posted some information on that process.

Thanks WWHub - I've had a look at Mr Spot's blog about the tower ( the Breakwater Beacon I assume you meant?) , but I'm no closer to understanding how to make patterns for my screens. I'll get in touch with Mr Spot directly I guess.

His elements were not patterns but model elements. I don't see any way of doing this with patterns in Revit. ... Only model elements

i sure you will find some info on what you want to do at this, but you will have to dig it out of the older post.

The only program I know that readily produces shapes via algorithms is grasshopper, which is a plug-in for rhinoceros 3d, which can be easily imported into Revit as a mass.
I understand this is a year overdue in posting, but for anyone that stumbles upon this in the future, you best bet is grasshopper > rhino > revit.
