Hey all,
I'm trying my hardest to somehow get the material to show on certain void cuts in my model. As you can see from the attached image some of the void cuts have materials but some don't, the ones that do had them automatically when the windows were placed.
All of the wall types in this model are modelled in place walls due to the irregularity of them, I assume that this is causing the problem.
When I try and edit the model in place the windows dissappear so that i'm unnable to paint the voids.
Does anyone have a suggestion or a work around tht could help, need ASAP thanks guys
I can't post the model due to size even after purging

Check out your window and louver families and compare them. See how the wall closure is specified in each family ... under types. (Propoerties - icon with the 4 squares.) Make your louver the same as the window.

Yeah I checked them they are have both been the same (By host), still baffled by this one
I've just tried copying a window that worked into the same area as the ones that don't and vise versa and now the copys don't work, I presume this means that the problem lies with the walls rather than the families?

I've found a work around!
I have to cut a void from within the in place model in the same place as the door i need, then recreate the window/door in a thinner wall and move it into place, the walls overlap obviously, it's a messy workaround but seems to look okay.
If anyone knows a better solution please let me know.

Look at your wall family then and see what it is set to do at openings. Layer also has to be set to return.

We are not getting the whole story..... If the window works in one area and not in another and if the walls are all in-place and created the same, then someone painted the returns.

Yup that's the whole story, some of the windows worked on some parts of the wall but not others, I think it's just a glitch in Revit somewhere as I had a few crashes when trying to pick new host and even place some windows, I'm assuming Revit doesn't like the shape of the walls and doesn't quite know how to handle them.
I've overcome the problem now anyway by cutting replica voids out of the inplace model to match the window voids, this seems to bring the material back to the returns, I'll post some images and the model if i can when I get back to work on Monday
