I have a colleague who models the top of structural columns to the underside of slabs & then starts the one on the next storey from structural slab level (SSL), So, If the slab is hidden in 3d view there is a gap between the columns.
Is this the best way to proceed? I’ve never done it, but wouldn’t the analytical model mess up?
What do others do?. As described or take the lower column up to SSL or the upper column down to the underside of slab?
Cheers

You model it like you build it.

you should construct the columns the way the would be constructed in the field and create opening in the slab if needed. MILYBI (Model It Like You Build It)
