Is there any way to scale extrusions, solids, and components?  I see lots of things in the downloads area that I could use if they where easy to alter just a little.  The ability to make the whole component a bit bigger or smaller or parts of it that are solids bigger or smaller would be great but scale is always greyed out.  Is there another way to do it that I am missing?

Unless an Revit object is made to be parametric, it will not scale.  If it is a family, you will have to edit each component in the family and even there, items are not scalable.

That is unfortunate.  You can scale solids in AutoCAD so I do not see a technical reason why this is not possible.  Any idea why Revit is not allowing these items to be scalable?

I think it reflects real world sizing.

Ever seen table and chairs etc in a project scaled to look right that are fit only for Hobbits. If you can't rely on the size of an object you're screwed.

but yes, custom manfactured ornamental items can be scaled...a plastic cast item can be scaled in design.
