newbie question here, but i can never find where i can edit the material of the baluster. i can for everything else in the stair (tread, riser, stringer, railing) but if someone could point me where to find where to change it so im not stuck with bland grey balusters. btw im using RAC 2011, thanks!

Hi,
Firstly the Baluster has nothing to do with the Stairs, it is part of the Railing Family that Revit just adds it for fun.
Step 1 - Find the Baulisters name.
Click on the railing.
Click the edit type button in the properties window (to your left I am assuming).
Click the Edit Button next to Baluster Placement
In the main patten window it has a list of Baluster Familys. Study the patten and take note of the names.
Close that window
Step 2 - Find it and set the material
Scroll down in the families tree (should be below the properties window) to railings and find the Baulister. Click the plus sign infront of it's name.
Then right click on the Baluster type and go to "type properties".
In there you should see "Materials and Finishes".
Hope this helps,
J
