I just installed Revit 2012 and want to take advantage of the editable keyboard shortcut file. When I export the file it is in .xml format, and my Excel (Office 2008 for Mac) can't open nor import the data correctly, it just comes in as long text strings. I researched on the web but am getting nowhere. Am I missing something obvious?

I just exported mine in 2011 and had no problems.  I will test later on a 2012 machine.

I opened it as an xml table and excel said it had to create a schema for it - which it did.

Just out of curiosity, why are you wanting to edit the file directly instead of just working through the Revit interface?

Today I got the file to open in Excel. For whatever reason the .xml extension read as an Adobe GoLive document when I tried to open it directly on the Mac side. I couldn't get Excel to recognize it except by converting it to a text file, which lost the delimiters in the file.

I think the problem was that the Open File window in Excel was set to "all Excel files" instead of "all Office Documents". Once I set it to all Office Docs it recognized the .xml file and it opened fine.

Thanks for the support.

I wanted to open it in a text editor so I could search for multiple instances of the same shortcut... I was having conflicts in previous versions.
