Here's what I'm looking to do. I have a wall that consists of metal studs, rigid insulation, and brick veneer. My plan view and section detail levels are set to medium. In plan view I want each of my wall cut patterns (all 3 are different) to show up, which I've accomplished. In section view I want all my wall cut patterns to show up except the metal stud pattern. The only way I've found to do this is to create a masking region over the stud area. Is there some kind of setting that I am not seeing or any better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

You can over-ride graphics in view by element and turn off all the cut patters for a wall. The key here is ALL. You can not turn of single layers.
