You mean VG - not VV - correct?
These are CAD files and they are in your project somewhere. If you are the only one working in the file, you should recognize their names and be able to think about where you may have used them. You probably hid them in the view they were used in. (They could also be beyond the view window or in turned off worksets.) Imported CAD objects should be used carefully and tracked because they are very hard to find later.
Somewhere in the forums, there was an app posted that finds these files.

it is VV, but I see VG gets me to the same place now. When i started revit VV is what i was taught back in 03'
It is a Template File I have been working on, it was started by someone who is no longer here. I am Trying to clean it up and those are the last 2 things i need to get rid of and the Template File will be done. Looks like i have some hunting to do in order to find them.
Thanks

I would suggest you make your users aware of the problems of imported CAD. Always link if you can or convert to Revit using a seperate file.

Having the same problem getting rid of those files.
I deleted all the detail & model groups from my template and they are still there. So, I decided to start fresh with a new template.
I opened a new template and the previous template and first did a transfer of project standards only selecting View Types. I then checked the imported catergories in my new template and there are all those files I want to get rid of! So i undid the transfer, checked again and they were gone!
How/ why is it that the files are coming in with View Types?

Someone has incorrectly built some of your families. I would copy / paste in a few at a time to identify the problem(s). Fix those and you can reload them back into your original template.

next step, i went back into the old template and turned off all the imported categories in each view template.
transferred only view templates again and...NO luck, the unwanted imported categories showed up again.
re-creating the view templates from scratch is going to be yuck

It is not a view template problem. It is a family problem.
