I am trying to develop a 3-dimensional curved tube from a SketchUp model (see attached). I am able import the model but the SketchUp model has no definition that I can get or develop coordinates and dimensions. I can develop a X and Y coordinate curved tube by the use of the sweep modeling process, but when I need the third coordinate, "Z", Revit seems not to have many options. Each series of X,Y,Z points are different. In addition, I was also trying to connect the points using an arc. If this is not possible, I could divide the line into small segments. But again, each point in space is completely different in each coordinate.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

looks good to test an adaptive component. Draw it on top plane, then move thepoints in a 3d view.

Use the circle family inside to change the tickness of the tube, to make this form you have to place 2 profiles, and a rail. Check the attachment.

The line is a simple spline that you draw on the TOP view. Then, in the 3d view or on a elevation you select a point that define the spline (press tab button) and place it on the right elevation

When you have the spline done, you hit place point, and you click then on the spline. That will make the point HOSTED on the spline.

So now you have a point hosted on the spline, no matter how you move the points of the spline. Now you click on SET (set work plane) to select a new host (formerly your host was the horizontal plane), and you pick the point hosted on the spline, and you draw a form that will be the profile of your tube.

Now, the spline must be a reference line in order to make the tube form, so you just change that in properties. And your are done, just select the profile line, and the spline and hit the create form.

In the family i posted, select the shape and hit the XRAY button, you will notice two profiles (one on each limit of the spline) and one in a random place.

The reason for all this trouble is that is ALWAYS better to create shapes in the native program, if you want to import an sketchup shape will have tons of triangles.
