OK, I have a very large building that is cut up into 5 or 6 areas.  So I have an overall foundation plan and then I have 5 or 6 area plans that are dependent on the overall.  So I put in grids as I always do (in the overall plan), changing the 3d to 2d on each one.  But the grids don't all show up in the dependent views.  Some do, some don't.  And none of them are showing up in sections either.  I have tried to propogate extents, maximize and reset 3d, everything I can but the only thing I can figure out is that I will have to delete them all and re put them all in and hope for better luck.  Help!

You don't need to delete them, just correct them.

In order for a grid (or level) to show, it must cut the clipping plane of the view in 3D.  2D alterations only affect 2D.  In an overall plan view that shaows the extends of the complete building, drag the gids in 3D so that they extend beyond the building on all sides.

Now they will show, unless of course you have some in different worksets, hidden or something else like that.

David,

Have you considered using scope boxes to contain the dependent grid systems.  Your main grids can be "unconstrained" and thus act normally and pass through all the extents.  But the isolated ones can be kept in check via the boxes.
