Revit 2011. Why can I import CAD, e.g., a joist hanger, into some section views and not others? When it works I get a joist hanger that I can move around and place. When it doesn't work I get an error message (None of the created elements are visible in the this section.) What's up?

You are importing it directly to a proyect (so the workplane inside cad was "top" , you cant place it into elevation views). Try to import that kind of files inside a detail family first, then place it into the proyect. Make sure you name it properly.

It works some of the time. I can get other elements to import but the scale is all screwed up. Although the scale is correct in the family, when I import it into the section, it comes out wrong by a factor of 2 or more. I don't understand what is happening. There is no way to change the size of the element in the section so one has to go back to the family and make another guess.

Be more careful with the REAL UNITS in wich the draw is set. For example, most of the time the cad guy draw in meters, but the units are set to milimeters. Set the draw in cad in the real units, or scale down within cad, then reimport to revit.
