I am working in Revit MEP 2012 with a linked Model from an Architect. Everytime I update the link, which I am reloading or reloading from, some of my devices are be moved in the Model. They are either moving horizonitally on the screen along a wall or at times are literally moving up in elevation. I understand that changing wall types can create orphaned devices but some of these are remaining hosted and others aren't, but are moved sometimes as much as 200 feet in the model. I have tried to figure this out and am at my wits end. This happens almost every update to something. I could understand it if it was in the linked file but the devices are in my files and only associated to the faces in the linked drawing. I hope someone can help, or at least let me know that this has happened to them. I have files at Autodeak and they are looking at them and have seen what it is doing but no one seems to know why or how.

I share your frustrations. You got to be experienced as IT/ C++&Autolisp programmer, Architect, building contractor/engineer and Specs writer/draftsperson (all in one) to really take advantage of this revit program. I worked on Autocad on highrise buildings in asia and states and using also this software for quite a while now and even worked on small design projects doing my own energy calcs, MPE, structural etc. but some good things about revit always mixed up with some wishlist from people who don't know a thing about building construction and good drafting communication.  I end up fixing the Revit mistakes and these are not just minor mistakes. Usually time essential problems that ends up to more time fixing than producing. You have to MAKE your own families and don't even rely on what's included in this Revit software. I really can't help you cuz of busy reasons. I can just tell you that I make sure that families I create make use of major/minor reference lines and 'not a ref' options.

are you using copy monitor functions or are you just creating face based objects? do you pin and or constrain them in place? is it a particular family or multiple families? Post some images of your issue

I am using copy and Monitor for the linked file. I am using faced based objects in MEP. I will post some examples as soon as I can I am trying to get the models back to being usable right now for a print set.

I did use some of the Library devices for bases for my devices but not all of them. If that is a problem with those then I will stat changing out to user created as soon as this drawings are out.
