Please clarify what you mean by not being able to edit the parts

select one of your parts and hit delete...

it will then bring up this error message... hit delete element, and your wall will return to its 'assembled' state.

I came here with the same doubt: what's good about "Create Parts"?

Another question: creating parts would duplicate the object (wall/ floor/ ceiling)? So in schedules/quantities, it would double the amount of materials?

I got my answer at Revit-Detail Blogspot:

"Now to the schedules, you can setup a material take off, but if you select a category like 'wall' it will only give you values of the original shape(none parts modified), if you don't select a normal category and select 'parts' from the list you get realistic values coming through in your schedules."

There is a way to undo a parts. There is no button like on/off unfortunately but you can do next thing, just slice piece of the wall(slice tool in modify panel) at the left corner end and after that the right part of the wall will be in original shape without parts and the left part of the wall will be in the parts....Strange really...Smile..I discovered this accidentally...
