I would like the heavy line of a wall or floor to go along the core outline only, and not along other materials (finish, etc.), so for example if i have a floor of 4' concrete, 3' space and 1' flooring, the cut line will show only around the concrete area.

Discussed a couple of days earlier - Mr Spot posted solution using overrides

Over rides are a workaround however, and should really not be necessary if through object styles you could define the line weight of layer types of walls/roofs etc
This is a problem of revit - control and access to dimensional information of each of the individual layers of walls and floors is not yet good enough. There is fantastic potential here to automate the interaction of host based objects (sweeps, windows etc) once access to wall /floor/ceiling layer host information is available to families to interact with.
