How do you put color into components for rendering?

Rendering is done by assigning a Revit material to an Accurender material which is in turn assigned a procedural or bitmap image.
If your component is a pure Revit object then the help file should cover this. If the object is based on a DWG object then their is a tutorial on this site as well for those types of objects.
You are going into a complex world when it comes to rendering and I would suggest going through the tutorials and reading up on the subject.
