Does anyone know why Revit will not let me put a vinyl 6x6 porch post onto a two stroy porch? I can easily put one on the front story portion, but it will not let me put a couple on the second story to hold up the roof. I've checked all constraints and can find nothing out of the ordinary.

The post is probably hosted.  See if you can change the properties of your first floor post to be scond floor.  If it moves, you should be able to figure it all out from there.

I tried that...it tells me that it can't be done...it's wierd I can put this post onto anything level first floor or below...but when I try and put it anywhere above that the program says no good.

That is a BAD family.  I don't really have time to investicate it fully but they buried some constraint in there somewhere.  You need to rebuild this family.
