I am in need of advice, I can stumble my way though it but any help would be great, I am a structural drafter, we have a project that is a large glass atrium with some pretty complex geometries, I am more familiar with creating this sort of thing in AutoCAD 3d so thats what i did, the project is now being done in Revit 2012. Currently the roof is created as a hollow solid mass in AutoCAD, now I am needing to convert this into a Revit Roof system with beams... etc attached, any tips on good ways of doing this would be great. Thanks!

Just your luck, it happens that I just made some videos of me taking a sketchup geometry and converting it into a revit mass to be used in the exact same manner. Here are the videos:
http://gibsonhh.info:8081/revit/video/ORUMass1.swf
http://gibsonhh.info:8081/revit/video/ORUMass2.swf
http://gibsonhh.info:8081/revit/video/ORUMass3.swf

With the outcome to date looking something like the attached image. Everything in that image is a true Revit wall, roof, glazing, etc. The hardest part is visualizing the geometry and seeing how Revit accomplishes the same thing. Let me know if you have any questions about how this process works.

Need help? I'm probably in my chat room!
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |

"we have a project that is a large glass atrium with some pretty complex geometries" - Just for curiosity, can you post some screenshots about those "Complex Geometries"?

Some browsers are not yet supported by the RevitCITY site. Google Chrome and Firefox later than 3.6.23 will not work. Try an earlier version of Firefox or IE.
Also make sure the image size is small enough. I use a free screen capture program call "Screenhunter free" and it makes a ver small gif file.
