Hi. I'm the new guy. As the subject line says, I'd like to rotate my model in an effort to align it with polar north. I have tried to select, and then rotate, but I received an error message that said I wasn't allowed to. I have searched as well, but I don't seem to come up with an exact "how-to". Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

In your HELP menu search for "Rotating True North", also, look at the bottom of this page and you'll see similar threads.

@rkymtnrider
This can be difficult to understand for a new guy. I have to walk through it step by step myself each time but it is getting easier.
It sounds like you have the building already drawn. Do you also have the site already drawn? I believe I would take different approaches depending on the state of the project.
I always open up a site plan view which is set to TRUE NORTH and a plan view which is set to PROJECT NORTH. This way, I can see the changes as they take place. If your project is drawn to PROJECT NORTH, then that portion is taken care of. Go to your site plan view (set to TRUE NORTH) and then MANAGE > POSITION > ROTATE TRUE NORTH. It might help to make sure the SURVEY POINT and PROJECT BASE POINT are visible as well. They can provide a good reference.
I hope this is helpful. We typically draw the site plan first in TRUE NORTH so the process for us is rotating PROJECT NORTH. Once you get the TRUE NORTH set you can always change PROJECT NORTH for drafting purposes or to coordinate the two. Depends on how you work, I guess.
Let me know if I can help with more explaination or if I am of course. Typically, I am working with someone at the computer and it is easier to explain.
