My elevator has it's own set of door, but I'd like to add a held open 180 degrees fire door in front of it that will shut during fire. On the plan I'd like to show the fire door opened and recessed into the wall next to the elevator door, and in the 3D view I'd like to see the elevator door. Now, if I "line-draft" the elevator door on plan and insert the fire door, in 3D view I can only see the fire door, which I don't want to see. On top of that, I don't even know how to make fire doors look like they're held open in 3D views.
Any suggestions?? Please help!

Two options:
1. Modify the elevator door family (duplicate) then add the fire doors in 3D set their visability to only show in 3D, then add symolic line work appropriate to the plan.
2. Add the fire doors as a separate entity so that they schedule properly. This method may require you to build or find a family that has a 3D panel swing parameter.
If you are new to Revit option 2 is probably the best bet as the family editor can be daunting unless you have some significant Revit time under your belt and have been to AU and learned from the family masters.

You need to learn family creation to make your fire door with a family or edit an existing family. Here is the standard imperial flush panel converted (edited) to what I think you want. I made a door plan swing line. If its a sliding door it needs to be removed, along with the elevation swing lines. If you want to duplicate this proceedure - note you need to delete the wall cut opening and create a void sweep for the wall opening so it will include the door recess The family would not allow a door cut opening and a void in the same host.
