I am working on a project where I need to export models built in Revit to a custom ascii format that treats all walls as 2d planes and stores the coordinates of each corner.

I have had some success by exporting my models to the ascii DFX format and then reading coordinates from there. However, being revit walls, my walls have some thicknss, and for example a rectangular wall is represented as 6 planes in the DFX format.

Does anybody have any good suggestions, either to export the relevant points from a wall, or to somehow have 2d walls in Revit?

Thanks!

Are you using revit structure? I believe the analytical model of walls would be a single plane. Note the green line along the wall, this is a single plane, the framing members are shown in orange.

I'm using Revit Architecture...any way to do the same there? I can try to obtain Revit structure, but we already have a workflow set up for architecture and admittedly I don't have much experience using either.
