Updated to Revit Architecture 2012's latest update i.e. update 2. Afterwards installed the add-on for online cloud rendering in Revit. So far so great, but when I tried to actually give it a try and clicked on any of the 2 buttons for cloud rendering, located in the Add-Ins tab, I was unable to sign in to my Autodesk Account simply because it kept on failing every time I try to sign in, as visible on attached JPG. Can't even get to the point where I need to input my credentials. Looked up the issue and tried to work around with Internet Explorer 9's settings, and those especially for compatibility view, but still no luck.
How could I tell Revit not to use Internet Explorer but another browser to browse the net with? My default system browser is Chrome, not Explorer, so I don't see why Revit prefers the latter over the former.
Same issue, with failing at log in, happens when I try to just sign in my Autodesk Accout from the top right corner of Revit, next to help and favourites. That obviously happens because the same process is initiated but it doesn't actually give and result later on.
Tips on how to solve that would be muchly appreciated!

Don't see why I can't really make the attachement. What I am told is - C:\fakepath\Capture.JPG
Anyway the whole issue is that the notification message I get is about the following:
Service Unavailable
Requested Service Unavailable
The Autodesk service you are trying to access is temporarily unavailable.
Please wait a few minutes and try again.
And that's all there is to what it says to me ...

how fast is the cloud rendering and do we have to wait in line for other renderings to finish from other firms?

Have a look at their website and I think you'd be pretty amazed. Unfortunately I found out that it only goes for people with a subscription contract and with a licensed Autodesk Building Design Suite - be it Premium or Ultimate... That's as of today, maybe soon they'd change it and make it a bit more open, so to speak...

Yea we have one subscription for one of our seats. We havent tried it yet to upload to the cloud and I think you only
100 cloud renderings per seat. I could be wrong. Im going to try it out tomorrow on one of our cameras to see a few tests.

So, from what you are saying I understand that the issue I am experiencing is not something you are experiencing? Is that correct? Because, as I already said, when I go to the Online tab in revit and then try to go for a clour render I am unable to sign in, don't even get to a point where I could put in my credentials. It just says service unavailable, and then again, and again, and so on...

stamenvallchev - Cloud rendering has been working fine for me, I think this sounds like you don't have a subcription for your software. Anybody can have an Autodesk ID so if the software's licencing isn't set to subscription, it won't load up. I have MEP without a subscription and I get similar messages when trying to use Cloud Analysis.
joker007 - the rendering service is very fast, 1 hour renders take maybe 5-6 minutes on the cloud. Greatest benefit is that you can continue to work while it renders somewhere else. You don't have to 'wait' for anybody else, it all happens simultaneously on their server. With a subscription, your are alotted 100 'cloud points' and renderings use 1 point per try. You can purchase more points if you need. I don't really use it because I don't get the same results as I do within Revit. Self-Illuminated materials don't seem to work. I think if they make the service handle walkthru's, I'd be all over it.

AbsoluteBIM, 2 questions. 1 - how much does a subscription cost. 2 - As far as I know you need to have both a subscription contract and either Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium or Ultimate. Does it work if you only got a subscription contract and say a student-licensed software?

I don't know how much it is as thats handled thru our admin people, I'm just given the fancy computer with everything ready to go. I don't have the Design Suite, we just have standalone versions. I think if your trying to do anything with a student license, you may get yourself into some trouble. They provide free software to students so that when you graduate, you'll get your company to buy the legit copy. When you install a student version and click "I agree", hidden in there is the promise that you won't make any money off the use of their product. As a student, I doubt you'd want to pay for the subscription yourself just for school projects. If your out of school and using a student version for work, I'd forget about signing up for anything.

Don't use Revit illegally: This was posted elsewhere.
You can get a bounty for turning in illegal users of the software. After all, why should you have to pay for software and they don't? If they have less overhead, they'll come in lower on bids and that's an unfair advantage.
Kick them where it counts....in the wallet. After all, if the legal department gets involved, it's up to 3 times the value of each illegal copy they find. Imagine paying $18,000 for a seat of Revit.

@WWHub and AbsoluteBIM - I don't know how you got the idea that I am using Revit illegally. I am only using it with student license. Don't know how you inferred that from anything I wrote on the topic. Read through it again, and you'll see/read for yourselves.

I apologize if my responses seemed accusational, that is not what I meant. I was simply trying to explain the logic behind trying to combine an Autdoesk subscription with a student license and why it probably won't work.
