I would like to make my shear wall tag read the shear wall family's length. I don’t want my users to manually input this information and possibly make a mistake.
How do I make the label pull the length information from my shear wall family?

I don't believe there is any way to tag the length of a wall but it can be scheduled.

What about building a generic family with the label? Could the label read the length then?

I think I'd do it with two families, one detail component and one nested symbol. I've attached a family as an example, it's extremely basic but should get the point across. It's not actually a tag so it won't automatically read the wall length, but it can be locked to a wall and it will read and display the length.

Thank you TKennedy but I do not see the attached sample you mentioned. Can you please repost and once again thank you for the sample.

This is a shear wall symbol that I fooled around with. I was hoping to be able to set tags to each end, but haven't got that far yet. Anything you can do to improve it would be great.
