For my second question today please see attached, I want to be able to create a family or railing type etc. that enables me to create the curved railings as per the attached picture. I could cheat and model these in place but it would be nice to create a parametric model as there are quite alot of them throughout the project.
I'm using Revit Arch 2012, shouldn't I have a Family Template along the lines of Metric Baluster Panel.rft????? because if i should I'm missing it lol
Any help will be appreciated

Your problem is a curved panel. I don't know any way of doing this as part of a railing family. I think it will have to be it's own family and you should be able to do this.

So just generic family then I guess, a bit of a shame really as it's quite a common kind of railing

You could do this in two parts. A railing for the rail and posts and an in-place or placed family for the curved in-fill panel.

I've attached two exerpts from tutorials off of Autodesk University. In the first one, they are creating something similar with curtain walls. The railing and balusters are made with custom mullion profiles. In the second, they create decorative curved panels with voids and extrusions. I've never tried either, but your post reminded me of these.

Thanks Absolute, I think Curtain walls will be the way to go to make these work nicely, I might just make a materil with a cut with the right size holes in then just use a simple solid panel so that it curves. Excellent will have to give this a try some time this week and will post the results
