Hello,I've created some symbols for electrical fixtures, as a 2d detail component.

If I want to place these in my model, it would be great if they are wall-based, so I don't have to rotate every symbol by hand. So I created a wall-based family, with only the 2d detail component in it. This works, but not really great.

The 2D detail component no longer really acts as one. If something is on top of the symbol, you no longer see it. While as 2d annotation, I always want to see it, no matter at what height is is, or if anything is on top of it.

Any solutions to this? Thanks!

Most of the electrical components already modeled, have a 2D symbol associated with them.

Hmm yes, I see.

But these are 2d annotation symbols, right? This work, but will not scale along. A 2d detail component will scale, so any chance I can use that for my purpose?

they will scale to the final view, problem with them is sometimes if you are using a really small scale view, they may be large. This is not ACAD, the text will always scale with the view. These symbols, should work fine on down to 1/8" scale. Sometimes like for a kitchen where there are so many conflicting electrical symbols like under cab lights, and plugs, and switches, I will make a 1/2" scale plan of them. You could go back and create a second set of symbols I suppose that are for smaller scale views, by modifying the existing families.
