I've made a custom 'structural framing' element. The family settings are set to 'Symbolic Representations: from project settings'.
In my project, I change the cutting plane of my view range higher. After this, I change some lines to 'overhead'. When I change the view range back to the normal height the lines disappear. The top view range is set to 'unlimited'.
I'm really desperate on this one. I've been looking for a solution all afternoon, and we're loosing valuable time...

Oh, and the problem only occurs when the family is cut. When I test this on objects that aren't cut, the lines don't disappear.

The only way I have done overhead lines is the process described in the HELP:
"For example, in a Level 1 floor plan view, you can specify Level 2 as an underlay. If Level 2 has a roof, you can select the roof in the plan view and then modify it. You can even underlay the same level as the view to select a ceiling or beams or other elements that are not shown in the view. You can use the Overhead line style for tracing underlays or define your own line style."
That method works, your metod does not.

Thanks for your reply,I really appreciate it.
The problem is that my family is cut by the cutplane, and the parts that i want to use the lineworktool on are above the cutplane (so it's invisible!). No matter which underlayer i use, it remains cut! So i really see no other method than to temporary raise the cut level and lower it after using the lineworkstool.
Hope you can help me out!

Please forgive me my patience, but is there somebody who can help me? We're currently putting a stadion in Revit and this problem threatens our deadline.

Don't use the linework tool, use 2D linework.
