I have been use revit MEP 2011 a short time and my data and electrical families sometimes move to a corner and also jump up or down up to 100'. does any one know why this is happening and more importantly how to stop it from happening. I am pretty sure that it happens becuase of the arch. link file changing but still need help stoping it.

Are all your families moving around randomly (some up, some down, etc.), or are they remaining in the same relationship to one another, but not relating to the building properly? If it's random movement, I have no idea what would cause that.
If it's the case that the families are all offset from the building in the same direction and distance, there are a couple of things you can look at to see what might be happening. It sounds like this might be happening when the architectural background is updated. If so, perhaps the wrong coordinates were used (origin to origin rather than center to center, perhaps) when the background was updated. If so, delete the architectural link, re-insert it on Insert > Revit Link with the right coordinate position. If that doesn't do it, check to see whether the architect has changed the levels and grids.
Hope this helps.

Were you ever able to figure this out? I've just encountered this exact problem myself and it is very frustrating. It seems like some sort of strange glitch. I've been drawing in Revit for over eight years and I've never run into this prior to my current project.
