is there a way to edit/add occupancy designations to a room? the rooms i'm dealing with have preset designations and i can't figure out how to add any.

There are no preset occupancy designations in Revit so someone has already added it in your project or template.

You should be able to click on the room and edit the properties to change this.  If you can't then someone may have set up a schedule key based on another parameter.  Come back if you have this problem.

THIAT DOES SEEM TO BE THE ISSUE. I CAN'T ADD NEW TYPES.

Please follow up with an image of your room properties.  Also look in your schedules and see if you have any schedule keys.  We have no way of knowing what you or someone else has added to your project.  So don't yell at us for trying to help.
