Hi Guys,

I Would really appreciate some help this has been doing my nut in! I have the profile of the lip of a pipe attached!

I need to make a custom pipe fitting with the attached profile on the end of each fitting which needs to flex dependant upon the size of the pipe fitting. I know to make simple flexible profiles but have never done this with an arc. I would really appreciate it if someone could take a look and let me know where I'm going wrong!

I need the two dimesions indicated to be flexible to the centre of the axis ie. 26 to be 25 and the 22  to be 18.

I know this is probably a really simple problem that can be solved really easily but I can't for the life of me see where I am going wrong!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Haggis

You're not far off! You need to assign parameters to each of the two measurements. Select a measurement, click in the toolbar above where it says Label, add parameter, call it length 1 (or whatever you want), and repeat for the other measurement.

Next you have to make two types in your family. Click on the Family Types icon in the properties box on the Modify ribbon. Under Family types, click New and give it a name or leave it as Type 1. This type will already have your original measurements in it, next to the parameters you have just created. Add another new type, and change the numbers to 25 and 18. Click apply and you'll see the dimensions change. Click ok and load into your project. That's it!

You did a good job locking your model lines to the reference planes. Some people don't always do this, but it's important. I would also dimenion the vertical ref planes and lock the dimensions. You don't need to give these dimensions parameters because they don't change. Locked dimensions are sufficient in this case.
