Anyone ever try to model a parametric sun tunnel family? I'm not sure the best way to go about it. Currently, I started with a generic face based template and changed the category to window. I insert it into the ceiling (which cuts a void) and adjust the shaft height to get it above the roof and then I cut a hole in the roof. The problem is that I can't get sunlight to shine through like in a window. I have the dome on top and the interior lens as transparent material.
I was thinking about maybe making it a light fixture to artificially appear as sunlight coming through. Any advice?

A couple of thoughts.
Did you turn on daylight portals?
A real "sun tunnel" would have a highly reflective interior. Does yours?
Still may not work depending on the number of reflections required to get through the tube.

Thanks for the advice WWhub. I turned on daylight portals but that didn't help. I made the shaft a reflective material and that helped a bit but not much. For now, I just made the interior lens 'self-illuminate' to appear as though light is coming through. I'll keep tinkering and post the family if I can get it to work.

I've attached the best I could do. I never was able to get natural light to pass through so the lens material is just set to 'self-illuminate'. I made it face based so you have to place by looking up at your ceiling. Hope these help.
