I have a dormer and I cut the main roof out of the dormer using the dormer opening tool. But when I pace a room, the top extents are still attaching themselves to the cut out rafters or the opening itself instead of the actual room as it should. Any help would be appreciated.

Your problem is probably the room bounding of the main roof. How did you create that?
I would use two sepearate sketches.

I am not in front of my computer this work weekend, but I made the roof with the standard sketch method with lines (did not use pick wall) the front part of this roof will be used for room bounding in a 2story great room. It seems that revit should be smart enough to know if there is a hole in the roof then to not count a void as room bounding. I'll attach the rvt file when I get back to my computer. Thank you for your time.

You really didn't answer but it sounds like you did one roof and used a void, then created the dormer. Correct?

Sorry, I am a noob. I created the main roof first. Then created the dormer walls and roof. Then selected the dormer opening tool and it allowed me to pick around the dormer roof and walls. Then I placed the room but the room boundary acts as if there is no dormer opening in the main roof. Should I use a void or a different type of opening for the cut n the main roof. Can anyone else test and see if A room boundary does not respect a dormer opening similar to my setup?

Hi this is Max,
I'm having the exact same problem. Is there a workaround?

Anyone got any answers? I am having the same issue, the dormers will not even recognize room separation lines.

I just turned of roof room bounding, now room seperation lines pick up the dormers, hence the windows now assocaite with a space in the window schedule. Hope that helps someone else out.
