We will be sending our MEP revit file to the architect that we are working for soon...i just wanted to make sure that i have the process down correctly
1. have everyone in our office save and sycronize their local files with the central file, and close their local files
2. make a copy of our central file and rename it/or place it in a different directory
3. to save on file size, open up that central file and purge out all unused families...and delete all view/sheets/legends/etc.....i was planning on keeping just one legend view that has some basics typed in it like the date, what has changed in the model since the last time it was sent to them, etc.....this process will still retain all the items, even tho there isn't a floorplan/3d view/etc, right?
4. save and close...then upload to FTP
thanks!

Pretty much. Also, before you delete all your views and purge, make sure that you've gone to save as --> options --> make this file a central file after save.
just copying a central file will make a new local file too, and that'd be bad.
